Representative James Murphy (D) of Weymouth is pleased to announce the State Legislature has approved funding to support the completion of road, bridge and infrastructure projects throughout the Commonwealth. Weymouth will receive $1,160,332 in Chapter 90 funding for the fiscal year 2019 after House Bill No. 4367 was passed on Thursday.

Weymouth will be able to use these funds directly for local road and bridge projects.  The funding should be used for existing transportation improvements like, reconstruction, resurfacing, equipment, design and engineering.

“In securing this funding, the town of Weymouth will be able to continue to invest in the improvement of our infrastructure” said Representative Murphy. “This past winter has been particularly hard on our roads and as we approach some warmer weather this funding will also assist in beginning the process of repairing our roadways.”

The Chapter 90 formula is based on road miles, population and employees within a certain community.  The formula was developed by the Legislative Road Caucus of the Transportation Committee.  The factors in the formula are 58.33% road miles, 20.83% population and 20.83% employment.  Any year-to-year fluctuations in grants are due to changes in those inputs.
